GREATER LOPHORINA - A BIRD OF PARADISE

 No other bird group is so beautiful or so rich in variety of plumage and behavior as the birds of paradise. They are usually heavy-billed and rather stout birds, but there are many species, each having its own unique look and colors. Birds of paradise range from the size of a starling to the size of a crow. And that doesn't include the male's feathery tail that can be up to 3 feet (1 meter) long, depending on species! 

The greater lophorina or greater superb bird-of-paradise (Lophorina superba) is a species of the Paradisaeidae (bird-of-paradise) family. It was considered the sole species in the genus until in 2017 it was recognised that there were three species (L. superba, Lophorina minor, and Lophorina niedda).
It is a small, approximately 26 cm long, (passerine) bird. The male is black with an iridescent green crown, blue-green breast cover and a long velvety black erectile cape covering his back. The female is a reddish-brown bird with brownish barred buff below. The young is similar to the female. The greater lophorina is a dimorphic species.
The greater lophorina is distributed throughout rain forests of New Guinea. It inhabits most commonly in rain forests or forest edges of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. They can also be found inhabiting mountainous habitats of the forests in New Guinea. The greater lophorina is also usually found on top of the trees that reside in the rain forests.

WESTERN PAROTIA - BIRD OF PARADISE

For many years the birds-of-paradise were treated as being closely related to the  bowerbirds . Today while both are treated as being part of the Australasian lineage  Corvida , the two are now thought to be only distantly related. The closest evolutionary relatives of the birds-of-paradise are the crow and jay family  Corvidae , the monarch flycatchers  Monarchidae  and the Australian mudnesters  Struthideidae . GLOSSY MANTLED MANUCODE - A BIRD OF PARADISE

Plumage  variation between the sexes is closely related to breeding system. The manucodes and paradise-crow, which are socially monogamous, are sexually  monomorphic . So are the two species of  Paradigalla , which are polygamous. All these species have generally black plumage with varying amounts of green and blue  iridescence .  The female plumage of the dimorphic species is typically drab to blend in with their habitat, unlike the bright attractive colours found on the males. Younger males of these species have female-like plumage, and sexual maturity takes a long time, with the full adult plumage not being obtained for up to seven years.
